Drowning Pool has persevered through the death of their first singer and losing their second, emerging as a stronger unit than ever before. After their biggest single ever, "37 Stitches" and four years of non-stop touring, culminating with 2009's Crüe Fest 2, the Dallas quartet just released its self-titled fourth full-length album. Louder, harder and more diverse than the band’s previous albums, the new one is very much the work of a band in total command of its sound, tearing through songs with confidence, life experience and technical chops. And as the band members themselves get stronger, they give strength to others, having been instrumental in the passing of the Senator Obama-sponsored Lane Evans Health Act, which provides better mental health care for veterans. Be sure to catch Drowning Pool on tour this October with co-headliners Godsmack!

Brothers Aron and Robert Mardo have been making music together in various incarnations practically their whole lives. As Heavy Young Heathens they beat the drums and play the bass respectively. Last year, songs were written, an album recorded, and a tour booked. Now they’ve got a few songs on the radio, a theme song for an MTV show, and a newly minted EP called Make Room For Youth. With an independent approach and hard rock in their veins, Heavy Young Heathens are quickly carving out their own destiny.

Places and Numbers
The electronic-tinged solo outfit Places and Numbers embodies everything Bobby Darling has endured and strived for his entire life. Faced with the death of both parents in 2009, Darling packed up his laptop and travelled to Italy, recording throughout his journey. After chancing upon his demos, Equal Vision decided to release an album. The result is Travels, a record that bubbles over with catharsis, emotion and hope.

The Fumes
Born in the hot sands of Sydney, Australia’s northern beaches and mentored in the American south by legendary axe-slinger Bob Brozman, The Fumes bring a unique flavor to the classic mix of rock and blues. The band’s debut, Guns of Gold, features the radio hit “Automobile” and is stacked full of swagger, with grooves that guarantee great times. Already popular in their home country, the band hopes to break big on these shores with a fall tour.

After a three-year hiatus, arena-ready heavy-hitters Halifax are back. Night Horse
Night Horse road out of Los Angeles this summer with a heavy new record – the highly anticipated sophomore effort Perdition Hymns, produced and mixed by Matt Bayles (Pearl Jam, Mastodon, The Sword). The album is a solid testament to the group’s chops and refined songwriting; the six-minute jams of their debut have been chiseled down to taut, hook-laden gems with soaring melodies. Catch them on tour this month.

Big Head Todd and the Monsters
Big Head Todd and The Monsters’ ninth studio album Rocksteady, released in July, finds the veteran Colorado band simultaneously returning to its DIY roots and forging into surprising new musical territory. Funky, precise, and melodic, the band’s new collection features founding members Todd Park Mohr (lead vocals and guitars), Rob Squires (bass), and Brian Nevin (drums), with keyboardist, steel guitarist, and backup vocalist Jeremy Lawton, who joined the band in 2004 and who also handled production and mixing duties for the new record.
